Help DMI transform its office space into a reflection of our work and our community–something innovative, inspiring, creative, and collaborative. We want your ideas!
DMI is looking for talented, adventurous folks in Vermont and the Upper Valley area to help us turn our office into a place that amplifies our creativity, nurtures our passions, and reflects the values of our Institute. Between now and March 15, we will be accepting proposals for the redesign of our office space. We welcome proposals from artists, designers, and anyone else with ideas about creating productive, exciting, and healthy workspaces.
The winning designer(s) will work with DMI staff to develop their ideas and then implement their proposed designs the weekend of March 30th and 31st. In return for their brilliance, the chosen designers will have their work featured at our Community Open House and shared with our network of friends and followers online. This is a great opportunity for anyone wishing to share their skills with a local nonprofit and gain exposure for their work! DMI will happily serve as a positive reference for designers working to expand their portfolio and professional credentials.
We’re open to anything from living walls to oversized chalkboards to hammocks, so send us your proposals! We can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Details and Resources
When considering your design, please keep in mind the size, functions, and requirements of our office space. We are excited to receive proposals that allow each of our four staff members their own work areas, as well as areas for group meetings, brainstorm sessions, relaxation, and individual contemplation. Designers should keep in mind that we rent our office space, so any installations must be portable. We encourage an emphasis on locally-sourced and recycled materials.
The budget for the redesign project is approximately $1000 and can be spent on furniture, lighting, paint, decoration supplies, plants, etc.
Your proposal should include information about how you would transform DMI’s office space–How will you make spaces that invite individual reflection? How will you create places for group work and creative brainstorming? How will your design reflect the Upper Valley and DMI’s values of sustainability and community? You may submit your ideas in writing, or in other formats such as video or drawings.
We encourage all designers to watch the following video tour of our office and to use the floor plan of our space as reference for their proposals. If you would like to visit the office in person, we’d be happy to show you around! Please email us to schedule a time.
